Nothing personalizes a home more than portraits. Wether they are from a professional photo session or taken by yourself...display those treasures! Don't let them lay dormant on a forgotten flash drive or hard drive. In our bedroom I created a montage of old polaroids and kodak prints on top of the dresser and makeup table. We inherited this set when we were first married, each furniture piece has a custom glass top. The prints are safely sandwiched in between the wood top and the glass and are in no particular order, my daughter has snuck some of her and her husband and now their little one into the display. While I write this, I am reminded to go change it up a bit and add our son, his wife and baby to the story!
During my photography sessions I have my clients story in mind. Taking care to include images that capture their personalities. I especially love the little moments, a sidelong look, a caress, spontaneous laughter...shared. Of course, the posed individual and group shots are part of the session. Once the images are delivered, you will have a great collection to make your own personal gallery wall.
In the first gallery I've included solo prints of each girl, the two together and a sweet family shot of everyone interacting with one another.
White frames flank the center image with its wood toned frame, all images have a white mat for continuity.
With the families bold buffalo prints and the vibrant fall foliage understated frames, in both black and white were in order.
My couple sessions follow the same recipe as my family sessions and include both posed and candid moments. I now offer a hybrid session where we begin in my in home studio and then the remainder of the session is outdoor. In the first gallery, I have selected a moody studio print in the center flanked by images from the nature area. We have 3 framed prints, two with mats and a canvas on the right. This lends visual interest to the display.
The bedroom installation gives another option, with two framed black and white prints to add to the neutral theme, the large scale of the prints help fill the space.
A gallery wall can be built upon, as your life story progresses. This is a compilation of three sessions, maternity, wedding and newborn.
Include a variety of images from your wedding day.
Or that one special image that conveys it all!
